“The Future of the City” Centre for Studies and Research has been set up in 2000 in the DAU (Dipartimento di Architettura e Urbanistica per l’Ingegneria) of the University of Rome La Sapienza by a group of town-planning researchers working on the subject, “The Future of The City”. The Centre is led by Elio Piroddi, Professor of town-planning.

One of the main objectives of the Centre’s activity is to develop scenarios on possible long-term changes in cities and their territorial contexts. These scenarios are based on the analysis of demographic, economic, technological, environmental phenomena which interact with the spatial organization of urban and territorial systems.

Because of the multi-disciplinary nature of their activity, the researchers of the Centre work in collaboration with academics and experts from other disciplines.
